Area qualifies 31 in 1A field

NORTHWOOD – Last year, CAL’s Kainan Braun became the first boys state qualifier from the school in a few years, this year he gets to celebrate with a teammate.
Israel Rivera will also be his competition in the 400-meter dash in the Class 1A field when the meet starts on Thursday, May 18.
When asked his thoughts Friday after it was confirmed he qualified – Rivera had to wait since he finished third in the event – only the winner automatically qualifies and the next 12 times advance, he said he ‘is happy now.’
The two Cadets were among 31 from the area in Class 1A who reached the state field out of the Northwood-Kensett district on Thursday, May 11.
