FORT DODGE – Taking advantage of one inning was all AGWSR needed to advance to the state softball semifinal for the second straight season with a 2-0 win over Bellevue Marquette.

The Cougars scored two runs in the third, including one that raised the ire of their opponent, both Marquette players and fans.

Olivia Ingledue barreled over Mohawk catcher Bella Berthel after the throw that came on an errant pick-off attempt when she strayed too far off third base, which hit her in the back and skittered away.

It brought an argument from the Marquette coach and howls from the fans, but the call stood for AGWSR that advanced to the semifinal.
