AGWSR uses late run to defeat Hampton-Dumont

ACKLEY — Pinpointing the turning point in Class 1A No. 5 AGWSR’s 68-63 season-opening win over the Hampton-Dumont girls’ basketball team wasn’t hard.
A tie ballgame at 56 with 3 minutes, 52 seconds left to go in the contest, the Bulldogs passed up a three-point shot and instead made an ill-advised pass that was stolen away for a lay-up by Aubrie Fisher, who led all scorers with 25 points.
That gave the Cougars the lead for good on Tuesday, Nov. 27 to start 1-0.
Prior to that, coach Laurie Gann’s team trailed 46-40 heading into the final eight minutes of play.
