FORT DODGE – Two high quality pitchers dueled it out in the Class 1A state championship softball game on Thursday, July 19.

A total of 23 strikeouts between AGWSR and Collins-Maxwell left fans speculating how far this classic could go.

But the Spartans got through to Cougar ace Taryan Barrick and broke up her perfect game in the seventh to walk off with a 1-0 win.

“That is a classic softball game right here,” AGWSR co-head coach Scott O’Brien said. “You won’t see to many finals better than this one."
