TV Goes

Finally! After a long summer drought, it's time for the fall television season to start!

There's a lot of new shows hitting the small screen this year. Here's a list of some of the shows I'm planning on checking out this season.

Agent Carter

Marvel Studios' second television entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be another spy drama, this time set in the 1940s and starring the friends that Captain America left behind when he took his icy nap.

"Agent Carter" won't be a full series. Instead it'll fill in the space in January when "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." takes its mid-season break.

Constantine

The first of several DC properties making their way to television, "Constantine" tells the story of a cynical magician with a bad habit of getting himself into bad situations.

It's hard to tell how this show will go considering the secondary lead was dropped from the show not long after the pilot episode was leaked. Still, better course correction now than mid-way through the season.

"Constantine" premieres on Oct. 24 on NBC.

The Flash

While Marvel dominates on the big screen as far as comic book adaptations go, DC is the top dog when it comes to television. "The Flash" is the first, but probably not the last, spin-off of the CW's "Arrow."

The adventures of Barry Allen promise to be a little more light hearted than "Arrow's" darker tone, hopefully showing Warner Brothers that not every super hero adaptation needs to be grim and gritty.

"The Flash" runs in on Oct. 7 on the CW.

Forever

Crime dramas are a dime a dozen, but throw in an immortal medical examiner who spends his free time trying to figure out his unending life and you've peaked my interest.

It doesn't seem like this mysterious immortal will be running around with a sword, but I'll give it a try nonetheless.

"Forever" premieres on Sept. 22 on ABC.

Gotham

After a decade of conspicuous absence on "Smallville" and "Arrow" basically being Batman in everything but name, it's finally time for the caped crusader to return to television.

Well, not quite. "Gotham" will explore the years of Gotham City before all the interesting stuff happens. The premiere episode didn't impress me that much, but I'll still give the show a fair shot to see where it goes.

"Gotham" premieres on Sept. 22 on Fox.

Gracepoint

"Gracepoint" is an American remake of the British crime drama, "Broadchurch." Most of the time this means recasting but in this case David Tennant, who starred in "Broadchurch" will be reprising his role in the new show. Same character, same actor, different version, different show.

That enough is worth a watch.

"Gracepoint" premieres on Oct. 2 on Fox.

Selfie

A modern take on "My Fair Lady," Karen Gillan and John Cho will play two social media obsessed 20-somethings that discover true friendship on their quest for internet fame.

I'm not a big fan of sitcoms, but I am enough of a fan of Gillan and Cho to give this one a shot.

"Selfie" premieres on Sept. 30 on ABC.

iZombie

Yet another DC adaptation, and another immortal mortuary worker on top of that. iZombie follows the un-life of a zombie that has to occasionally eat the brains of the recently deceased to keep up the façade of being a normal girl.

Man, and I thought Hollywood was getting saturated with comic book movies. Five new shows based on comic book characters this year. This is in addition to the two (three if you still watch “The Walking Dead”) that are already on the air.

With rumors of “Supergirl” and “Teen Titans” shows in the works, it looks like this trend isn’t slowing down any time soon.
