The Hampton Fire Department has a new piece of equipment that may help save a life in the future.

Officials from AgVantage FS donated a grain rescue tube – valued at $3,500 – to the Hampton Fire Department on Oct. 14, giving the department a valuable tool to help save a person who may fall into and be covered by grain.

"Each year, there's a lot of deaths because of getting into grain bins," said Kevin Gray, Grain Division manager of AgVantage FS. "They get into a situation they shouldn't be in. It's really sad."

Gray said AgVantage FS has donated several of the grain rescue tubes to regional fire departments in an effort to "be a good neighbor" and offer as many resources as possible to maybe save a life if an accident occurs.
