2 apply for Ward 1 seat

The Hampton City Council will choose between two candidates vying for the open Ward 1 council seat during its meeting Thursday night.
Current Ward 1 representative Meghan Freie and resident Mark Siciliano were the only candidates to apply for the job. Freie, who submitted her resignation in March, reapplied for the position because the council voted to move forward with appointing a replacement after accepting her resignation. Freie intended to move away from Hampton but now wishes to retain her seat following a change of plans due to personal circumstances.
Council members interviewed the candidates at Monday night’s workshop. They quizzed Siciliano and Freie about their backgrounds, professional experiences, what they like about Hampton and what they’d change if appointed to the council.
