It's hard to believe we have completed the seventh week of the legislative session.  We saw a great deal of floor action this week, including passing legislation that better protects Iowans and makes our state an even safer place to raise a family.

This week’s winter storm did not hinder the good work being accomplished in the Iowa House. We successfully concluded the first “funnel,” which is a deadline for legislators to pass bills out of their respective policy committees in either the House or Senate, in order to remain eligible for further consideration....

The pace of the legislative session is picking up with the third week under our belt.  Committees are hard at work reviewing and discussing proposed legislation.  We will soon begin to take up bills on the House floor that have passed out of a committee and I look forward to sending them to the Senate for their consideration.
